Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
An important official commented the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
